Q: A friend of mine signed up for one of those bootcamp training courses. I thought this would be a good way to workout and meet new people. My concern is that I am not in good enough shape to get started. How fit do I have to be?

I can totally relate to the intimidation factor of the bootcamp training courses, you are not alone. While there are in fact many seasoned participants, about 50% are new to the class, just like you. Bootcamp classes are geared to working you out as if readying you for the military. That said, they are also geared to ALL fitness levels, from total newbies to enlisted soldiers. All of the exercises are developed with degrees of difficulty that will challenge you from the beginning level to more advanced as you get stronger and more comfortable. Just be sure to let the instructor know it's your first time and they can keep an eye on you without singling you out. You will certainly meet others in the same boat and can encourage, laugh, cry and get through the class together. It really is a fun experience while challenging the muscles in a whole new way. Now drop down and give me 50!!
