Hi all!
So, I've just started dating a new guy and we get along great, but he does not seem to have been raised with very good table manners.
The other night we were out to eat at a semi-fancy restaurant and I observed him cutting his steak into bigger than bite size pieces and then biting it off from the fork, then he ate his veggies with his fingers and to top it all off he gnawed on the steak bone with his hands.
I am not his mother and I shouldn't have to scold him or ask him to use his manners in public, or should I?
How can I approach this subject with out coming off as stuck up or snooty? With habits like these there is no way I would ever bring this guy home to meet my family.
Thanks for any advice!

If you like him, give him a chance. I say, start teaching him by example by showing off your table manners. Once you get to know him better there is not reason why you cannot point out some of the rules of dining out etiquette. It's all a delicate balancing act but it may be worth it in the long run~

Timing is everything! I appreciated the fact that a former girlfriend gently hinted that I often spoke too loudly when in out with friends. I was talking over people and did not realize that in my excitement I was not giving other people a chance to speak. So I say, tell him like it is....
