The Creepy Cycler in Spin Class

Attention: open in a new window. PDFPrintE-mail

Q: There is a man that always sits behind me in spin class who is starting to creep me out with all of his groans and moans during our 45 minute workout sessions. I would like to politely say something to him or the teacher but am not sure what the proper etiquette would be when it comes to group cycling classes?

Oh yes, the groaner and moaner in class. What to do?! Many classes have these types of people and unfortunately most don’t know they’re annoying others! It is a sensitive situation to deal with, but luckily you don’t have to be the one to say something. You can arrive early or stay after to speak to the instructor. They’re probably aware of this person too, but if nobody speaks up, it usually doesn’t get dealt with. If the instructor is not willing to say anything, you can ask the manager of the club to say something. In the meantime, if this person is a regular in class, you may want to move to another spot in the room. Good luck.
